The Polarities
Two fields of influential energy
Opposite does not have to mean opposed
Within the Astro Life Alliance System, Positive and Negative describe complementary directions of energy, not good and bad. Both fields move through every life. Our signs, circumstances, choices, and development help determine how those energies are expressed.
In astrology, the Polarities define two polar opposites, or opposing fields of energy: the Positive (+) field and the Negative (−) field. These energies are believed to influence the decisions we make, the directions we take, and our likes and dislikes. We encounter them daily through the Heavens and the Earth.
This rule is not written in stone. An Eastern Zodiac sign and its qualities can strongly influence the behavior patterns associated with a Western Zodiac sign.

Understanding opposites without creating opposition
As there are twelve different signs in astrology, they are divided into two groups that share influence over the signs. The Positive signs are traditionally considered Masculine in character or nature. They are Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aquarius. The Negative signs are traditionally considered Feminine in character or nature. They are Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.
Though referenced in terms of gender in astrology, masculine and feminine are not meant to be taken as male and female. They signify the principles and natures of the polarities. Males and females are born under every sign and within both polarity groups.
The zodiac sign positioning may have given rise to the saying, “opposites attract.” Still, when it comes to humanity, the phrase is not a dependable rule for zodiac signs. Most of us seek relationships with harmony through love, understanding, truth, support, and acceptance.
Some relationships require the acceptance of things that run counter to our desires, just short of becoming intolerable. Marriage may be associated with the 7th House in the Life Chart System of Astrology, and that house may oppose the Principal House, but opposition in position does not automatically mean a failed relationship.
Good and bad should not be associated in any absolute sense with Positive and Negative polarities. The word “no” is negative, yet it can prevent something harmful from happening. The word “yes” is positive, yet it can allow something harmful to occur.
The polarities become more useful when understood as interchangeable forces. What begins with positive intentions may produce negative results, and what first appears negative may produce a positive result. The Yin and Yang principle offers a fitting symbol: seemingly contrary forces can be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent, giving rise to one another through their relationship.
Although polarities are recognized as opposites, there is no need for us to live in opposition because of zodiac signs, horoscopes, or an astrologer's determination. We should not allow anyone to dictate our futures or our future actions.
When words such as malefic, opposing, unscrupulous, or negative appear, remember that they are terms used for want of language that more fittingly describes planetary vibrations.
All signs and all planets are good, but our human reactions may be adverse according to our stage of development. No planet is evil in nature. Our manifested responses are what may be judged as helpful or harmful.
